Winter in West Cornwall

If you're planning a Winter escape, Cornwall is packed full of things to do throughout November and December

Coastal Activities

Mount’s Bay comes alive throughout the Winter season, whether it’s the dancing waves forcefully blown onto the shore, or the plethora of colours that engulf the sky as the sun sets over the rugged landscape of the Penwith Peninsula.

If you’re brave and a lover of water sports, kitesurfing with Ocean High could be the activity for you. With a unique choice of beaches and beach directions, the team are able to teach in optimum conditions, whatever the wind direction.  Or perhaps you would like to chase the swell and surf the Cornish coast. Winter brings in the waves from the Atlantic, and where better to learn the county’s emblematic sport than in Sennen Cove with Smart Surf School.

Active, but not too sure about the temperature of the sea, then wrap up warm and pull on your wellies – it’s the ideal time to explore the South West Coast Path! Start at the doorstep of the Godolphin Arms and venture in either direction and discover what the area has to offer.

Walk eastwards and stop in Perranuthnoe at The Cabin Beach Café for a Proper Job Hot Chocolate overlooking the cliffs or head slightly inland for a hearty lunch at the Victoria Inn. Head west and trek towards the quaint village of Mousehole and explore the winding streets that are filled with wonderful places to eat and drink, including the Old Coastguard and The Rockpool Café, as well as a selection of unique galleries and gift shops – and from the middle of December, the Christmas lights that brighten the harbour are not to be missed!

Dog Friendly Holidays

Bring your dog on holiday with you and visit dog-friendly attractions, such as the sub-tropical Trengwainton Garden, just outside of Penzance, or explore the fortress of Pendennis Castle in Falmouth. And of course, the outdoors is their limitless playground! Venture across the various stretches of beach and coastal paths throughout the area with your four-legged friend throughout the winter months and have the place, mostly, to yourselves! Find out more on Dog Friendly Cornwall’s website.
