West Cornwall’s Top Dog-Friendly Beaches
Everyone knows a holiday wouldn’t be complete without all the family – and that includes our four-pawed pals.
Lapping up the opportunity to spend quality time together and discover lots of exciting new places (and old favourites, too), there’s nothing like stepping out for an adventure with your pup by your side. Fortunately, if you find yourself in West Cornwall with your pack, there are a number of fantastic dog-friendly beaches that welcome furry friends year-round.
Setting you off on the right tracks, we’ve picked some of the sandiest, prettiest and tail wag-worthiest dog-friendly beaches in West Cornwall; guaranteed fun for all the family.
Best Bits: The sheltered harbour that reveals a lovely sandy beach at low tide. Plus, the nearby chocolate factory for two-legged chocoholics.
Where: Near Porthleven
Best Bits: The big swathes of sand perfect for games of fetch – and the lake for cooling off afterwards! (The sea can be dangerous here though and best avoided).
Where: Between Porthleven and Penzance
Best Bits: The peace and quiet thanks to its location off the beaten track and the amazing sense of history (this used to be a favourite haunt of local smugglers in the 18th Century!).
Best Bits: The great proximity to local amenities and the abundance of space for ball games, playing in the water and snoozing in the sunshine.
Where: Near Porthcurno
Best Bits: The fantastic scenery painted with turquoise waters and powder-fine sand. This is not one for shy dogs though, as it’s a recognised nudist beach!
Where: Near Sennen
Best Bits: The secluded location and incredible views. It’s also close to Sennen’s dog-friendly pubs which you can access from the coast path.
Where: Near Pendeen
Best Bits: The super-soft sand which feels dreamy under paw. There is also a great walk leading to the beach – the perfect opportunity for your pup to burn off some steam.
Where: St Ives
Best Bits: The location in the middle of St Ives and access to lots of great dog-friendly shops and restaurants. There are always lots of other dogs to say hello to here!
Where: Near St Ives
Best Bits: The huge amount of space that stretches out for a mile at low tide – a real doggy paradise. Did someone say fetch?
Best Bits: The massive expansive of golden sand ready for lots of games and the sapphire sea ready for cooling off in the summer sunshine.
