Festivals, food and fun-filled adventure, summer has arrived in West Cornwall!
The ‘out of office’ emails are on, the bags are packed and time is nigh to enjoy summer in West Cornwall. As if the promise of blue skies, crystal clear waters and ice cream by the gallon wasn’t tempting enough, there are also lots of fantastic events taking place just a stone’s throw from us at the Godolphin Arms from June to September.

Summer 2019 – Guided Tours of St Michael’s Mount: Let the island’s talented team of raconteurs sweep you away with gripping stories of the Mount. Taking you on a free guided walk around the village and harbour, you can glean a fascinating insight into island life and some of the intriguing stories that are woven into its paths.
8th June – 25th August – Miracle Theatre: A Perfect World: The wonderful Miracle Theatre are ready to thrill audiences once again, this time with their production of A Perfect World. A rollicking adventure, Miracle’s latest show is an action-packed spectacular following the journey of a head-strong young lady as she takes on a ‘Boy’s Own’ world of unchartered jungles and treasure maps.
3rd – 6th July – Penzance Literary Festival: Serving up a varied array of workshops, talks and events throughout this 4-day event, Penzance Literary Festival is a must for the summer calendar. Challenge your inner creative, pick up new tricks and meet like-minded folks along the way.
5th – 20th July – Lafrowda Festival: An exciting cacophony of colour and sound, St Just’s Lawfrowda Festival is an annual event celebrating community arts. A 2-week extravaganza, expect to experience music, comedy, drama and dance, not to mention dazzling decorations and street processions.
12th – 14th July – Tropical Pressure: With azure seas, golden sands and swaying palm trees, Cornwall is tropical enough. Throw in some reggae beats, a splash of rum punch and a plateful of delicious spiced grub and you could be forgiven for thinking you’d woken up in the Caribbean. Oozing cool vibes and pouring with musical talent, Tropical Pressure is not to be missed.
20th July 2019 – Camborne Show: From vintage cars to show jumping to live music, the Camborne Show has something for all. Say hello to the friendly Shetland ponies before weaving your way to the beer tent to top up on refreshments. The perfect place to pick up a gift, the show is home to over 100 trade stands and exhibitors.
21st July – 1st September – Open Air Cinema at Porthminster Beach: What better way to spend the evening than watching a movie, on the beach? Revelling in the most atmospheric of backdrops, cuddle up with some blankets, crack open the box of chocolates and settle in for a night of entertainment you’ll never forget
20th August 2019 – The Chestnut Appeal: Whether you are a hardy competitor or cheering on from the side-lines, this fantastic event should be in everyone’s diaries for August. Raising money for the Chestnut Appeal, the event will help promote awareness for Men’s Health and see brave swimmers take to the water to complete a one-and-a-half-mile lap around St Michael’s Mount.
