Spend September Exploring Cornwall

The summer crowds have begun to disperse, but there is plenty to do and see throughout the county

Here are a few of our reccomendations:

6th - 16th September - Heritage Open Days: Celebrating the fantastic architecture and culture of Cornwall by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. A chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of events and activities which bring to life local history and culture.

7th - 9th September - Redruth International Mining & Pasty Festival: A three day event celebrating the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Redruth; through pasties, mining and music

7th - 9th September - Newquay Fish Festival: Now in its 16th year the Newquay Fish Festival celebrates the heritage and cuisine we have on our doorstep, right at the start of the supply chain for the very best that seafood has to offer. Top chefs from across the region show how to make the most of this bounty, with a chance to watch learn and try some delicious seafood.

8th - 22nd September - St Ives September Festival: Music, theatre, poetry, film, walks, talks and art exhibitions and workshops all going on around the town.

9th September - Forage & Picnic on St Michael's Mount with Emma Gunn: Take a walk in the Northern Woods of St Michael’s Mount with wild food expert Emma Gunn. Be inspired by food located in the wild and get back to nature, learning what is edible along the coastal path or in the woods, and get a true taste of the bay.

11th September - Seaweed Forage & Cookery with Fat Hen: A foraging experience designed for those of you who want a specific knowledge of our edible seaweeds and how to incorporate them into your diet in a delicious way.

14th - 16th September - Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival: A charming Cornish party with some big live bands, a groovy silent disco, BBC Introducing stage, camping and glamping, secret cider walks and cider tasting featuring a huge range of delicious ciders from across the UK plus lots, lots more.

14th - 30th September - IMS Prussia Cove Autumn Concerts: Every year, following Open Chamber Music, a group of musicians specially invited by IMS's Artistic Director Steven Isserlis, take part in a national tour, bringing the work done at IMS to a wider audience. The musicians taking part each year have either had a long association with IMS Prussia Cove, or have come through the Masterclasses more recently, bringing together an ensemble of young and more experienced musicians.

23rd September - Forage & Picnic on St Michael's Mount with Emma Gunn: If you have always wanted to know what food you can forage in the wild, or if you are an expert in foraging, this walk will be insightful and enjoyable with the opportunity to forage  many things, from sorrel and sow thistle to hogweed and honeysuckle.

28th September - Forage, Cook & Feast with Fat Hen: Designed for anyone who is inquisitive about wild food and foraging and is aimed at adults but is open to all, touching on a wide variety of wild foods available with an introduction to cooking fish and/or wild game.
