English Tourism Week - Cornish Favourites by Katy Phipps, Restaurant Manager
With it being English Tourism Week from 30th March - 7th April, we thought we'd celebrate our part of the country by sharing our favourite things about Cornwall. Katy Phipps, our restaurant manager, loves all things active and creative, here are her favourites...
Mylor - my home beach where I grew up
Favourite dog walk?
I am forever borrowing my friend's dogs, I can't wait to get my own. When I'm out with my stolen dogs (for the day!), I like to walk Mylor to Flushing, over to Falmouth on the ferry, a drink at the Chain Locker and then the long stumble home.
Sunset Surf over in Gwithian. After a surf, it's great for the hot chocolate.
Favourite surf spot?
Favourite place to sail?
My parents run a water sports centre in Mylor, hands down this is the best place to sail in the UK
Favourite place for outdoor theatre?
Tehidy woods – if you haven’t already been to see Rogue Theatre DO IT!
Favourite Cornish food?
You just can't beat a pasty. Traditional all the way.
Favourite fish dish?
The Godolphin Arms fish and chips, I think it’s the Tribute in the batter that makes it!
Favourite local product?
That’s a really tricky one because so many great things come out of Cornwall. I really like Poppy Treffry’s hand embroidered bags, Mike Lacey’s surf photography and Palms and Pines upcycled vintage clothing... along with about a million local gins! I’m currently on a bottle of Trevethan pink grapefruit and lychée
